Issele-uku Association of North America, Inc.

has finally been formed!

Two attempts had been made to form the Issele-uku Association of North America over the past fifteen years and it appears now that the third time is the charm. Thanks to the persistent determination and the strong will of the people of Issele-uku who made this happen in our recent Convention in Atlanta, Georgia on June 10, 2006.

“Odinma Issele-uku, Ya ka anyi cho” which translates, “The welfare of Issele-uku is what we want”  There is no ambiguity or hidden meaning to this simple motto of ours as an organization and we plan to follow this principle as a guide towards achieving this goal. Our action is genuine and we are goal oriented. We are not distracted, but focused on a unified goal, and that goal is Issele-uku development.

The Issele-uku Association of North America, Inc. will be working closely with all other organizations whose eternal interest is focused on the development of Issele-uku. We will also be

working closely with our state and local  government officials in our efforts toward making the govt. responsive to the development of our community.  Since this organization can not single handedly  organize, finance, or direct the future development of our community, we will need the active involvement of all our Issele-uku citizens to actualize the “odinma Issele-uku,” not just as a slogan, but as a matching song of development. We appeal to all Issele-uku citizens in North America to come forward and register with this organization. We know that we can all make a difference if we try, and trying means getting involved.

The convention of the Issele-uku Association of North America in Atlanta was a huge success, considering all the odds it faced going into that convention. The agenda for the convention was followed with precision and professionalism, resulting in an orderly completion and conclusion of the events of the day. We are thankful to the president, and the members of the Atlanta chapter of Issele-uku Association who organized that convention. We also thank the Houston chapter for their determination to hold on to the dream. And to everyone who attended the convention, we thank you all for believing in your dreams too.

For the next two years, we will be working to lay the foundation for a strong, unified, and focused organization, capable of leading our people into greater heights in development and peaceful co-existence among our community. Be part of us; join the Issele-uku Association of North America, Inc.

We take this opportunity to thank all the convention members who showed an exceptional act of commitment, courage and love by testing for bone marrow donation that may benefit our son, Uzoma Azuh, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Uzoma was a second year medical student at Wayne State University before he was diagnosed with this illness. We encourage those of you who share Uzoma’s race to take the blood test at your local blood bank or call 1-888-Marrow2  and save a life.

Finally, we congratulate our very own Paul Dike who was recently promoted to the rank of Air Marshall and subsequently appointed Chief of Air Staff of Nigeria Air force. Way to go!!!   Again, thank you all for making it possible to establish this organization, and please let’s work hard together to make Issele-uku Association of North America live up to its expectations.
